Welcome!
In the first volume, Perilous Jack and the Frost Potion, Perilous Jack returned home from an adventure to discover Phaerinzanzi Bolibombi Barizolim Abimbola, a Fairy Dragon, awaiting him in his castle. Phae had disturbing news for him: a Cloud Giant has abducted Princess Vasilisa, a longtime friend of Perilous Jack! The Giant’s castle is somewhere in the fabled Cloud Kingdom high over Malkat, accessible only by powerful magic – or by climbing a huge Beanstalk! But growing a Beanstalk requires Magic Beans, and before Jack can even consider planting them, he must overcome the guardian of the Giant’s castle – a terrible Pyrohydra!
If you have made it this far, then you have triumphed over the Bull God and obtained the Frost Potion Jack needs to subdue the Pyrohydra. You have met and conquered the Druid Nolurrag and obtained the Magic Beans needed to grow a Beanstalk to the Giant’s castle. And you have crossed the perilous Plateau of the Endless, slain the Pyrohydra, and climbed the Beanstalk!
At the end of the previous volume, Perilous Jack and the Plateau of the Endless, Jack emerges from the foliage of the Beanstalk to see the castle of the Cloud Giant in the distance, beckoning with the promise of adventure – and danger!
But the danger of the castle is mundane compared to the greater and more terrible quest that presses on Jack’s mind: the Breaking of the Nightcrystal. Fell beings from another dimension have split the Nightcrystal into pieces, bringing magical darkness to the Mushroom Kingdom and eventually, to all of Malkat. The Wizard Council of Saîd has learned that one of the Shards is to be found on the Plateau of the Endless, the very place Jack adventures now. He will need to stay alert for clues.
Before you begin this adventure, don’t forget to copy over any treasure, equipment, or special items you gathered in the previous volumes. You can add them to the Equipment Sheet here. And don’t forget to check Jack’s Journal from the first three volumes. There may be unsolved mysteries written there . . .
You can begin Perilous Jack and the Cloud Castle here.
