The Giant has fled more swiftly than Jack would have guessed, and he fears his foe will escape if he is not caught soon. Jack dashes forward, hurling himself down the stone steps. A pair of Illithids struggle to restrain a rogue Psi-Mech, using powerful bolts of psionic energy to batter the creature senseless. Although Jack is sympathetic to the creature’s plight, even the piteous wails of the maddened brains inside the construct cannot dissuade him from his path – neither can the temptation of laying to rest another pair of odious Illithids. Jack dodges the threesome altogether and leaps over a lava pit into the next chamber.
