Perilous Jack leaves Professor Monkfish in the Vampire’s Lair, still toying with his ornate Skull.

As he prepares to leap back into the Portal that brought him, Jack glances back one last time and sees young Minkle Monkfish, whose inarticulate cries had so shaken and puzzled him.

And just as the Portal whisks him away, it occurs to Jack to wonder whether the boy had been trying to tell him something . . .

But the Portal is dark again, and there is no return.
